Set in a speculative future where insects have become extinct, this project explores a scenario in which humanity must deal with the consequences. Since the disappearance of the last species, humans have had to replace them with robots built in their image and likeness. Excavated after a devastating sandstorm, ‘The Insect Scrapyard’ has been reconstructed and allows you to choose from a collection of body parts and assemble your own insects suited to your needs, whether a pollinator, air or water purifier, or pest controller. Nuts and bolts connect the wings, moveable appendages, dangerous stingers and other pieces, almost all made of copper. A playful take on a serious matter.
