#Akktt Instagrammable Activism

Mariska Lamiaud

"Influencers get a great photo, while sharing awareness of issues that matter."

WHAT A new campaign method to help NGOs spread awareness using objects designed to be photographed, liked and shared on Instagram. WHY With more than 800 million active users per month, Instagram can become a vector for change if used as a tool for activism. A street demonstration tends to reach far fewer people than a photo posted by an influencer with millions of followers. HOW With bright colours and photogenic, eye-catching designs, Mariska Lamiaud created three products that work well on Instagram: a giant blue whale seat for outdoor events, a selfie mirror and Antarctic wildlife bath bombs. Designed as playful props, they also highlight issues like plastic in the ocean and threats to marine ecosystems.
