Death Education

Sojung Lim

Explaining death to children is not easy. Yet Sojung Lim knows just how important this is, having lost her father at a young age. “I was left with a twisted impression of death for many years,” she says. ‘Death Education’ is her way of addressing this and is the product of extensive research and interviews with a child psychologist, teachers and kindergarten children. In three books she covers three facets of death, from what happens to the body, to mourning and the funeral, to the cycle of life. Each book comes with its own tool to aid understanding, such as a handkerchief and a seed that can be planted to sprout new life.
