Towards Matter, Particularly
"Subatomic particles, the building blocks of matter, are hidden from human senses but revealed through scientific instruments such as particle accelerators — the LHC at CERN is 27 km in circumference and consumes as much energy as a city. Science uses these elaborate tools to explore, rationalise, and control the mysteries of matter. But is science the only way to relate to microscopic particles?
Towards Matter, Particularly is an interactive installation that repurposes scientific instruments to bring subatomic particles to our sensual awareness. Particles become visible in a cloud chamber and are projected onto a circular screen. When the particles collide with Geiger tubes dispersed in the installation, they elicit moments of light and sound that affect the projection."
