Chasing the Ghost

The legal ambiguity of what should happen to a person’s digital identity after their death has resulted in an opportunistic digital after-life industry emerging. An exploration into the ethical issues surrounding digital death and digital immortality was motivated by Perrine de Donato encountering the digital ghost of a friend in an online video game. The results of the exploration are presented in a video narrating the poetic journey of a digital ghost hunt. Emphasising the informational ghost, the film unravels the future scenarios that are being designed for undead digital beings, and how it will shape our remembrance of the ones we lost.
