Movement Matter

With a background in circus arts from an early age and an interest in working with metal, BoRee Rijzinga has created a collection of unusual apparatuses. Exploring dynamic, improvised movement, the project offers a playful approach to developing body awareness. Activated by human momentum, the objects invite movement in the air as well as interaction on the ground. These simple, elegant shapes become partners in play through a creative approach to exercise. From an intuitive process of making and exploring, the designer developed a performance space that responds to different approaches and practices of movement, where she creates a performance with trained circus artists while also offering this mindset to adventurous amateurs.
