Static Mutation

Lee Ehrat

"The Caumasee, an alpine lake in Flims, Switzerland, is marketed as untouched by humans. However, field trips and interviews with local experts reveal its reliance on human infrastructure. Challenging the romanticized notion of untouched nature, Lee Ehrat presents a contemporary understanding of natural landscapes. He proposes a hiking route that follows an underground pipe system supplementing the lake's water at a mouse click.

Hikers encounter tools exposing the hidden structures beneath the ground, illustrating the human-nature interdependence. These human interventions are as much part of the landscape as the ancient rock formations that shape the river. This project shifts the narrative towards recognizing human impact and encourages dialogue on our role in shaping and sustaining natural environments."
