On n’est pas là pour enfiler des perles
Juline Lulu Constance
In French, the expression “On n’est pas là pour enfiler des perles” [we are not here to string beads] is used to describe not doing much, or engaging in an activity of little interest. From an external perspective, the innocent activity of stringing beads can be a fun way to occupy kids. For Juline Lulu Constance it is not a waste of time at all, but a way of reconnecting with childhood to create new imaginary worlds. In Juline’s installation, oversized beads come together to create a room – the corner of a wall, a chandelier, a stool... One after another, the beads thread themselves into a new space that is in a continuous process of creation.
