Imagender

The social construct of gender comprises norms, behaviours and roles that are all facilitated by specific objects. From fashion to domestic and professional, the objects all represent different gender biases and narratives, that can also be used to re-narrate and construct gender identities. Imagender uses the AI image generator Pixray as a tool for the critical fabulation of new gender identity narratives based on the vast database of images online. Jian-Da Huang’s uses their body as a medium to wear the images as objects. What results is a dynamic storytelling and narrative system stemming from human and AI collaboration.
