Nature impacts our mood without us even realising: calming our senses and lowering our heart rate. But when we’re increasingly spending our lives indoors how can we still get our dose? For our home-bound society, Faren Hartman seeks to bring nature inside with ‘DynamicLight’, a lamp that expresses natural elements in an abstract and simplified way. Taking the movement of trees, the lamp’s flexible rotating arm swings like a branch in the wind, throwing dancing shadows of nearby objects onto the walls. Evoking the elements but refraining from mimicry, the lamp translates an organic occurrence into domestic ambience. The rhythmic ticking and purring of the mechanism is a soothing accompaniment free from pretence.
