The Friendly Fence
Ezra Vollmeier
Exploring construction sites as places of play and exploration, together with a fascination for skating culture, the Friendly Fence is a collection of installative pieces which reference mobile construction site fences. The unusual, yet familiar looking designs are created by modifying the mundane metal fences, and invite users to climb, skate, lay and sit on, and play football with. As interventions into the urban landscape, the former barriers become obstacles to interact with, which contribute to a new narrative of public architecture that turn our streets into playgrounds.
