Metal Workshop
This workshop houses a wide range of machines and tools for metalworking, which are available for DAE students to use for their projects. The team of experts that runs the workshop can help students develop practical skills, as well as offer advice on different techniques and materials.
If students have a design that cannot be realized using the resources available within the workshop, the team will help find a solution through external connections, alumni and specialist businesses across The Netherlands.
Located on the first floor of the Academy building, The Metal Workshop stocks a range of tubes, sections, rods, strips and profiles, with a maximum length of three meters.
Equipment for these materials includes:
• Crosscut Saw
• Tube bending machines
• Tools for manual bending
The workshop has a stock of sheet metals, including steel, aluminium, stainless steel, copper and brass in various thicknesses, with a maximum size of one square meter.

• Sheet scissors
• Punching machine
• Sheet folding machines
• Sheet metal roller
• Anvil
• Plasma cutter
• English wheel
It is also possible to cast tin using sand moulds. The casting of aluminium and bronze is carried out in collaboration with atelier Make, Eindhoven.
Tin and silver soldering can be done in the workshop, with tools including:
• Solder bold
• Acetylene torch
• Propane burner
Available welding equipment includes:
• Spot welders
• Mig/Mag welders
• Tig welders
Machining equipment includes:
• Lathes
• Milling machine
• Drill presses
• Band saw
• Belt sander
• Pantograph
General equipment includes:
• Workshop press (30 tonnes)
• Polishing machine
• Measuring table
The workshop also has a very generous collection of hand tools, from pliers and wrenches to screwdrivers, files, hammers and more.
All tools/equipment is used in the workshop and may not be borrowed to use outside of the workshop.
