Beauty of Uncanny

Whereas many designs pursue comfort and eliminate discomfort, Liho Kim is more interested in the interaction between these opposites. Her uncanny designs explore what lingers between disgust and attraction. Inspired by Julia Kristeva’s concept of ‘abjection’, Liho took human excretions as a daily reminder that ugliness and beauty can coincide. These intriguing objects incorporate our ambivalence towards the substances that leave our bodies. They make you want to flush the toilet, hide your nose and ear pickings and wash your hands as soon as possible. And yet, doesn’t it feel good? Try them all and find the new beauty here.
