Climate Gains
Federico Santarini
Climate Gains presents the case study of Yamal LNG (liquefied natural-gas plant), a joint venture located in Sabetta on the Russian Arctic coast. Fully operational since 2019, almost all of its future output has already been sold to Asian countries working to substitute coal with other sources of energy to meet the Paris Agreement’s climate goals. The work will show how companies and countries are taking advantage of the effects of climate change – from the thinning of sea ice to establish new trade routes, to melting of the permafrost allowing the construction of heavy infrastructure – to expand the markets for their produce.
